Athletics
General Information
MCS encourages its students to become involved in athletics and provides a variety of opportunities in team sports at the intramural, national and international levels, as well as regular physical education classes.
MCS is a member of the South Asia Inter-School Association (SAISA) and competes with other international schools in Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, and Bangladesh. Tournaments are held in soccer, volleyball, basketball, track and field, and swimming.
National Sports
SAISA West
MCS is a member of SAISA (South Asia International Schools Association) Our students join with students from other schools mostly for sports tournaments and occasionally fine arts productions. Meeting other students from very different backgrounds, forming friendships, sharing victory and defeat are some of the benefits that MCS students have gained from participating in SAISA events. They have also contributed much to the Association by their sense of sportsmanship, their manners, their cheerful cooperation and their team spirit.
Students often travel to Islamabad or occasionally Lahore to compete against LAS (Lahore American School) and ISOI (International School of Islamabad). Students practice during school hours and after school to participate in these sports activities.
National Tournaments/Meets
Swimming and Track and Field
This SAISA West event is an all school Meet. Students from every age group, are able to compete with each other in an enjoyable tournament that is often held at ISOI in Islamabad.
Badminton and Soccer
This event is only for middle school students, but often high school students have the opportunity to help coach and instruct their fellow students.
Basketball and Volleyball
This event is only for middle school students, but often high school students have the opportunity to help coach and instruct their fellow students.
School Tournaments
MCS ocasionally has tournaments at the school, in which students are able to compete with one another with the goal of having fun, socializing and improving their skills.
International Sports
SAISA (South Asia International Schools Association) international events give opportunities for students to be able to travel to other countries and compete against students from ten different schools in 6 different countries. This allows students to be witnesses to others in competing in sports and at the same time enjoying high school level athletics.
Each year a list is put up and students are asked which international events they would like to attend. Based on this list we choose which sport we would like to attend at an international level. For the past 3 years MCS has attended volleyball, but in previous years soccer was more popular and therefore attended.
