JH Open House Night! Mar 30-Apr 8, 2015 #26
To reflect on Good Friday in Chapel, we watched a portion of the Jesus Film, and tried to imagine we were one of the people who were actually there, such as, a Roman soldier, a Pharisee, a Disciple, etc. To help our imaginations, the large cross was on the stage and Mr. Healey made some very long spikes like the ones the romans might have used.
Easter day began early with a sunrise service of prayer, reflection and music led by the students. Thankfully, there was no rain in the morning! Some staff attended the local service at St. Margaret’s Church in Murree. Our celebration at MCS included joyful singing accompanied by the band, special music by Mrs. Becht on the cello and Mrs. Lim on the piano, beautiful singing by the same small group who sang on Friday: Yearim, HaeYoung, Grace, Noah and EJ. A video speaker, Miles McPherson spoke about the 3 things Jesus said told his followers NOT to do after His resurrection: Do not be afraid; Do not hold Him back; and Do not be unbelieving. Two of the elementary students, Sia and JeongHyun, showed me their latest CDT projects – elephant pull toys!

The much anticipated Junior High Open House took place on Saturday evening with 5 of the hostel rooms being transformed. The winner for the boys’ rooms was, “Hard Rock Café.” It had a menu with great food, attentive waiters, money to spend, and great ambiance with music and a sports channel.

Matthias, JoonHee, Rohan, Ricky
The winner for the girls was, “The Stomach Room.” Guests walked over the tongue, down the throat and into the stomach!

JiReh, JuYoung, Simran
There was the chocolate room, with a chocolate soldier (Paul), chocolate checkers, chocolate snacks and entertainment like chess and an original game that Juhwan made up.

Then there was the scary room of Jeonghyun and HyoSuk, with bloody footprints, and ‘gross’ food like fingers and brains etc.

Priscilla and Sieun made a magical Harry Potter room with lights, an invisible cloak, and a very big sword.

Most staff, a few parents and all the senior high students attended, and voted on their favorite rooms according to creativity, ambiance and hospitality. It was a fun night – thanks Junior High!
Does anyone have a guess as to what this is a picture of??? It was made by one of our students in CDT. Let me know if you have a guess, but you’ll have to wait until the next newsletter for the answer!
