Back At School January 17 - 27, 2016 Newsletter #18
Such a strange winter – we’ve only had a couple of light snow falls! Staff have only had to walk down Sandes hill to catch the van once. It’s so sunny and nice out that we can still eat lunch outside on the patio! (At least up until a couple of days ago.)
We are back into the routine after the celebrations and travel for some to all parts of the world over our winter break!
For our Chapel time, I had everyone divide into groups to pray for the families of our students, since they had just arrived back from spending time with them. We hope the students are encouraged by knowing that we pray for their families and their ministries while they are apart.
We had J John speak by video for Church Sunday. Everyone enjoys his dynamic way of speaking. His message on Four B’s – Bible, Breath of God, Blood of Jesus, and the Bride – was very convicting and challenging.
Our MCS church offering collections from the first semester were distributed recently. Recipients were: Disaster Relief Fund for MCS National Staff; TB project; Winter clothes for poor children; a school in the Sindh; the Sindh Audio Visual Center; Camp Mubarak building fund; Kids’ sports/witnessing events; community development, and an ongoing health support. We are thankful for the giving spirit of our students and staff that helps spread the Good News and brings much glory to God!
Several students took the SAT exam at ISOI – not exactly a fun way to spend a Saturday morning! But we are proud of their hard work and dedication.

Students and their house parents played board games and used the sauna as their weekend activity back in boarding after being home for the break. Our kids do very well, but please pray for all the adjustments they must make as they bounce back and forth between home and school.

Other fun times in boarding might include a BBQ on the balcony, or dressing up to make a movie for a class!

Staff have fun times too! Celebrating birthdays might include a cake decorated by our kind kitchen staff – or even a meal out with the ladies!

*Alumni News*
Chuck Roub (MCS staff 1960-85) passed away January 1st. Our prayers and sympathy are with Eloise and the family.
Congratulations to Tobias Becht! (Class of 2016) Not only did Tobias receive the top score of 5 on his German Language and Culture AP last May, he even earned a perfect score on this exam! Tobias was one of only 36 students in the world to earn every point possible on this exam! From about 4.5 million exams taken by 2.5 million students, only 322 students earned every point possible on an AP exam - a rare accomplishment!
Nate Brees (Class of 2010) announced his engagement to Alexandra – the wedding is planned for May!
Micha Lanz (Class of 2012) announced his engagement to Grace Burke on Dec. 30! The wedding is planned for June 2017.
Praise and Prayer Requests:
Praise for safe travel over the break.
Praise that Nick Strachan arrived and is blending in quickly.
Pray for Nancy Stewart as she continues with chemo treatments – the cancer hasn’t grown, but pray it will respond and shrink with new drugs.
Pray for our staff needs for next year:
Especially Math, History and English Teachers,
Girls’ Boarding, Principal, Music, Secretary.
You will find an updated flyer on our website that you can post in your church or send to those interested.
