The Weather Warms Up! April 28-May 4, 2016 Newsletter #29

Doesn’t this pool look inviting?! The Elementary/Junior High enjoyed a swim day at ISOI. They had the pool mostly to themselves, so they enjoyed water games and just relaxing in the refreshing water on a very hot day.

Is this boy walking on water?

Most of the senior high went into Murree on the weekend in various class groups for a meal and some shopping.

Most of the students in grades 11 and 12 are taking Advanced Placement exams here at MCS this week and next. Sue Smith has graciously volunteered to proctor most of these which is a real blessing to those of us who are trying to finish up our work for the year.

Some in grades 9 and 10 are taking the IGCSE exams in Chemistry and Maths over at Lawrence College in Murree.

These external exams demonstrate the level of accomplishment of our students to universities.

Ready to try out Uncle Hans’ Flying Fox!

A “RAFT” seminar was held this week led by the Brandts, for the senior students who are leaving us this year. RAFT stands for Reconciliation, Affirmation, Farewell and Thinking ahead. They were encouraged to consider who they might need to forgive or affirm, how they can say their goodbyes, and plan ahead for their future. This kind of reflecting helps leavers go in peace, knowing they have taken care of these important aspects of relationships. Then they enjoyed a RAFT cake to remind them of what they’ve learned and used the cards to start putting it into practice.

Want to know what goes on in boarding?? How about snacking and learning how to tie a tie!!

Mr. Simon concluded our history chapels by speaking about the time of the attack on the school on August 5, 2002. He reminded us that even though there was loss of life which we don’t understand, there were also many miracles that people shared about afterwards. It was an amazing provision that many of our students were able to continue their education in a short time in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Visas were protected for staff’s return and the reopening of the school in 2004. This experience changed some lives for the better, as many grew spiritually and took on more leadership roles.

God’s faithfulness was evident through it all!

(These events were compiled into books by Sue Morton and Mr. Simon.)

Mr. Azhar Abid spoke in church and compared God’s plan for Moses and his education, to the plans He has for us to learn and serve Him.
