Sandes Gets a Fresh Look! November 3-9, 2016 Newsletter # 11
The Sandes building is getting a new look! The Maintenance team is painting the rust-covered metal roof with a silver paint that stops the current rust and helps prevent rust in the future. The workers had a difficult job of painting that steep roof so high up! The roof of the church where we hold our classes was painted over 15 years ago, and has lasted well. The white trim at Sandes was also re-painted to give it a fresh new look, too.
The Jung family have been working very hard in the flower beds planting lots of new bulbs and flowers. So everything looks so nice and fresh!

Before … and after!
On Saturday, several of the seniors went to ISOI to take the SAT exam. They will know their scores in three weeks. Many are busy working on applications for universities.
The IOWA exams were given to grades 4-8 each morning this week. This is their first chance to do an outside standardized exam. The scores will be returned to us in a few weeks and we will send them to parents. We were very thankful to have Dr. Janet Healey come to supervise. She was very helpful!
Uncle Isaiah led the senior high in ice cream making on the weekend. He gave some theory behind how ice cream is made, since he is actually a food technologist. They got to taste their finished product the next day.

The Junior High had a badminton tournament and the Grade 11 homeroom group and Aunty Chris were invited to lunch at Camp Mubarak. We also got to see the new guest room facility that is being built. What a great service this camp is!

In Chapel – Miss Lisa Donald gave a short presentation and testimony. She is from Derby, England and first visited Pakistan in 1995! She has undertaken several short-term placements in Pakistan in the past, and has also worked at Kinnaird College for Women and Daewoo Pakistan Express Bus Service in Lahore. Prior to joining MCS as secretary, she worked as the Student Administrator at Redcliffe College. In her local church in Gloucester she was active in helping with refugees and asylum seekers. She enjoys travelling, walking, meeting with friends and is a Derby County supporter!
Then, Aunty Diana, who is a trained counselor, spoke about coordinating Counseling services in the school and the Newmarch’s will be available for students and staff if the need arises to talk to someone outside the school about any issue.
In Church, Mr. Fyffe spoke on evangelism as another key principal of the Christian life.
From Christine Phelan: Sadly, this is my last newsletter, as I will be flying home tonight. It has been a wonderful 9 years at MCS! It has been such a privilege to serve students, parents and staff here. I love being a part of the MCS family and I know that this will never end! I will miss many things here but I am also looking forward to spending time with my family and discovering what plans the Lord has for me next! Thanks for the many notes of encouragement and prayers over the years. I will continue to pray for the MCS family.
